Educator Updateby
Cindy Bradshaw, ACC
President, NCCAP
As a result of the
resignation of the NCCAP Executive
Director; each member of the NCCAP Board
of Directors has taken on additional
responsibilities until which time a
replacement is hired.
Specifically, some things
that had been reviewed or addressed in
the office are currently being addressed
by a specific board member(s) rather than
the office staff to allow the day to day
process to remain the same.
For the time being, I will
be the person responsible for reviewing
the applications for Instructor
pre-approvals. The required areas are as
follows:
- BS + or ACC
- current experience
teaching
- current activity
experience
- attendance at the
Training for the course(s)
In 1998, after much research
and member input, the board voted to do
away with the waiver process; but would
do it in such a manner which allowed
interested, qualified individuals the
opportunity to complete the necessary
areas. This means IF a person has
completed 3 of the 4 required areas, they
could receive a temporary approval number
(pending all the necessary paperwork is
submitted) - and then would have until
1/1/2003 to complete the last component
in order to retain their number.
It is the hope of the NCCAP
Board of directors that this will lend to
more consistency in the distribution of
the pre-approval numbers, which in turn
will exhibit more credibility to the
governmental agencies that we come in
contact with and ensure our members that
the individuals that have applied for a
number have met certain required
standards.
Application for a
pre-approval number is OPTIONAL (unless a
waiver is involved, this would require
going through the pre-approval);
interested parties can contact the office
at (757)552-0653 to request an
application. Please direct any questions
specific to Instructors, courses,
requirements etc., to the NCCAP
E-mail or to me
directly.
We are currently in the
process of developing an Instructor list
as the previous listing was outdated. We
have inserted a questionnaire for
instructors to complete in a previous
newsletter - and ask that YOU the
educator keep the NCCAP office abreast of
where and who is teaching the 90 hour
courses in your area. We can track a
pre-approved person, but get daily
requests as to who is teaching in the
different states.
This information can be
forwarded to Kathy
Hughes, the board member
responsible for this area. NN
