Member Remindersby
Cindy Bradshaw, ACC
President, NCCAP
The NCCAP Board has taken on
many responsibilities to assist our
office staff during our quest for a new
Executive Director. There are many
volunteers who are assisting us during
this time. NCCAP remains committed to
giving our members quality service and
the individual attention to assist them
in making their credentialing experience
a positive one. Our office staff of
Audrey Stowers and Betty Cooper are a
vital part of the NCCAP Team and the
Board would like to recognize their
efforts in making this transition a
smooth and pleasant experience for all of
us. We do have a few reminders that we
would like to share with our members as
we continue performing our services to
you.
Our team of dedicated
volunteer reviewers continue to review
certifications, renew-als, pre-approvals
and technology approvals. The process of
sending in your requests is quite an
undertaking. Your information is first
processed at the office, from there it is
sent to a volunteer reviewer, who is a
NCCAP member. Your certification or
renewal is then reviewed by a trained
NCCAP reviewer. This volunteer individual
usually receives 25 - 30 applications
every two weeks. Once these are reviewed
the applications are then returned to the
central office to be processed by Audrey
and Betty. The total process usually
takes 8-10 weeks, with those who need
additional information taking a little
longer to gather information to complete
the process. Pre-approvals for continuing
education sessions, workshops and
conferences are also sent to volunteer
reviewers. We need to have at least 60
-90 days to complete that process as
well. This process has been an ongoing
procedure throughout the past five years.
This year the NCCAP Board was able to add
additional volunteers to the process and
we are hoping that we can meet the
increase in members services as we now
have over 6,500 members.
You can help us streamline
the process and assist our office staff
in their jobs as well. Here are some
pointers to assist our staff and are
volunteers:
1. If you have moved,
changed addresses, changed your name
or know of a NCCAP member who has,
please notify us. We make every
effort to locate people but still
have renewal notices and newsletters
returned on a daily basis. Incorrect
addresses are usually the reason for
not receiving renewal notices on
time. All renewal notices are sent to
members 90 days before your
certification runs out. The best way
to notify us is the e-mail us at info@nccap.org
or to send us a postcard. If you want
to call, please leave a message with
your name, certification number and
new address.
2. When calling the
office, remember that these two
ladies are busy processing
certifications and answering the
numerous inquiries that come into the
NCCAP office daily. We encourage you
to use our e-mail address
info@nccap.org. Please leave a
message speaking clearly and spelling
your last name. Please give your work
telephone number, certification
number and a brief message as to the
reason that you are calling. Remember
that any NCCAP Board member can
answer your questions as well as our
NCCAP Representatives.
The NCCAP Board is in
touch weekly with each other and we
can also assist you. If you are
requesting additional NCCAP Standards
Packets, please drop us a line or
e-mail us and we will be happy to
send you the information. The NCCAP
Web site has all of the certification
information that you may need at
www.nccap.org. Please leave a message
when calling us and we can better
serve your needs by being able to
look up information and get back to
you.
3. Many NCCAP members
who are currently in the renewal
process are pending additional
information. The top three reasons
are no Instructors Name on
their certificates, no
Instructors credentials and/or
missing signature of the Instructor
or Sponsoring organization. Please
make sure that all of the information
that is needed to renew your
certification is clearly marked on
your certificates. The NCCAP Web site
has all of the information that you
need on your certificates and even
has a certificate that you can print
off to make your credentialing
easier.
Thanks to all of our
volunteers who are helping our members
become certified activity professionals
and thanks to all of our members for
being patient while we proceed through
our transition. A very special thank-you
to Audrey and Betty who have been able to
maintain a flawless service to our 6,500
members. NN
