OOOPS!!! I goofed. The new
standards do not go into effect until
July 1, 2001, NOT January 1, 2001, as I
mistakenly said in the last newsletter.
The decision to extend the deadline
wasnt made until after the
newsletter had gone to press,
unfortunately. On the positive side
we now know that many people
actually read the newsletter!
The last revisions to the
draft of the new standards and
application have gone to the printer.
Stop by the NCCAP booth at the NAAP 2001
Conference in April to pick up a copy.
The plan is to have them available on the
Web site, www.nccap.org, also.
Here are a few of the
questions I have received already:
Q: I have my
ADPC and have only the AMC to
complete to change to ADC T-4. Do I
have to go back and and get college
credits in English Composition?
A: No. You met the
requirements for the college
component when you received the ADPC;
you only have to meet the current
standards for the section(s) you have
not completed. Also, the AMC is now
the Modular Education Pro-gram for
Activity Professionals (MEPAP), Part
2.
Q: Are the
changes retroactive?
A: No. Standard changes have never
been retroactive. If, however,
certification is allowed to expire
and is not reactivated within one
year, the certification process has
to start over under the current
standards. Also, when making a level
change, the new standards must be met
for the level you are changing to.
Q: How do I
know if the BEC & AMC courses I
took (or am taking) will be accepted
for certification?
A: Call the NCCAP Central Office
(757-552-0653). They have a list of
all the instructors who are
pre-approved, or check the Web site.
For those of you who are
instructing the MEPAP Parts 1 & 2, email
the central office
and ask to be sent copies of the new
standards & applications when they
arrive from the printers. And be looking
for the standards & application to
appear on the Web site in the near
future.
The NCCAP Board of Directors
and Audrey look forward to meeting many
of you in Vermont in April 2001! Be sure
to come by the NCCAP Booth and attend the
Annual Membership meeting. NN
