Committee Report: Better Safe Than Sorry!by

The National Certification
Council for Activity Professionals
(NCCAP) offers a pre-approval process for
Advanced Technology Continuing Education
Credits.
Any educational program that
is not taken in a group setting must be
accompanied by a NCCAP Pre-approval
number to be accepted. This includes any
online courses, independent/home study,
correspondence courses, videos reviewed
and/or books reviewed.
Any educational programs
offered in the above listed formats need
to have an NCCAP Pre-approval number to
be used as continuing education.
Educators can request an Advanced
Technology Pre-approval form from the
national office and submit the
educational program, along with the
required fee and three letters of
reference to verify that this continuing
education program equals the requested
number of hours of continuing education.
When NCCAP approves these
advanced technology continuing education
credits, all that is being said is that
documentation is on file in the office or
three members of the Advanced Technology
Committee have reviewed the submitted
educational session for length only.
NCCAP is not reviewing the
content of the program and stresses to
certified individuals that one always
learns more when the education is
provided in a group setting. The group
setting with a leader allows for
interaction between students and the
instructor.
If you are concerned whether
or not an advanced technology course has
been NCCAP approved contact the office
for verification. It is better to be safe
than sorry. NN
