MEPAP Requirement Stands

Since the implementation of the MEPAP 1 requirement beginning in July of 2002, there have been several inquiries from potential applicants wishing to "test out" or be excused" from the boards decision. As a result of these inquiries and for data purposes, the NCCAP board authorized a one time "clep test". It was used to determine if individuals not completing the MEPAP course(s) possessed the same knowledge as those
individuals who have completed the courses.

Participants were pulled from several areas to include:
pending applicants, new inquiries, and ADPC's lacking the MEPAP requirement. All applicants met the requirement for ADC Track 1 (held a bachelor or masters degree in recreation, had the required 2 years activity experience, and 30 hours of continuing education). They were given a MEPAP comprehensive final exam at a proxy site, with a proxy supervisor, and a designated time limit.

Based on the MEPAP requirement of a core of 75% or above to pass the course. All the test subjects barely passed the course with scores ranging from 75% - 77%. Most of the participants missed the same questions, all of which related to the field of activities. The committee determined that the test results reiterated the need for the MEPAP 1 for all initial certifications. NN
