Me the MONEY!

They
say money can be the route of all evil, I say, let me
take a shot and see what happens, I promise to be good!
Well,
we have the results from the salary survey that many
of you had asked for. Through postings on the web site
we received over 300 requests a month asking for assistance
in determining an "average" wage for certified
activity professionals. I am saddened to say however
we did not get a terrific response to our salary survey.
As a matter of fact we only received 128 returns, not
even 1/2 of those who requested this, but hey, that's
okay, we did it anyway.
Now,
I know this survey was conducted on a purely voluntary
basis, and as anticipated the results did vary based
on those that completed the survey and to what extent
the survey was completed. For the most part all of the
information was filled in; then again there were some
with many blanks so that we could not obtain a clear
picture of some of the items that were addressed.
The
survey included many variables ~ type of facility, location,
rural or urban, education, years in the field, certification,
job title, hours worked per week, number of staff, staff
to resident ratio, monthly budget and yearly budget
and of course salary range.
It
is very difficult to try to describe and post this information
in an article to you, without being 100% of what every
one truly looking for. The salaries ranged with job
titles, years of experience and the like. Therefore,
instead of trying to answer questions or provide information
in this article that may not be useful to you, we have
placed the survey results on our website; http://www.nccap.org
so that you can go there and find the information that
will benefit your needs.
One
suggestion I have is that you each ask your state associations
to run a salary survey by putting the information out
with your membership applications. Maybe then you can
get a clear picture of what you are looking for. Best
of luck! NN
