Specialty Track
Survey Resultsby
Kathy Hughes, ADC/COTA
NCCAP Vice President
As you probably know, NCCAP
has been taking a Specialty Track
Certification Poll on both our web site
and through NCCAP NEWS (see
Spring 2001 issue). At the Membership
Meeting in Vermont it was suggested that
we continue with the process through the
newsletter one more time. We have
included the survey in this newsletter
and hope to have the results for
presentation at the mid-year meeting in
November.
For your convenience, you
are welcome to make copies. We would also
like some feedback from our survey
results thus far.
Although 37.2% of those
responding to the survey on the web and
via the last newsletter stated that they
wanted an ADC/AL (Assisted Living)
classification, there was no clear
direction as to what the respondents felt
the requirements should be. And although
32.54% stated that 20%- 50% of the
continuing education should be in the
Specialty Track, no one stated what they
thought the Assisted Living Body of
Knowledge should include. We would
also like to have suggestions as to what
types of continuing education that might
constitute.
Those who responded also
showed they would like activity
professionals to take the current MEPAP
course to level-change into a skilled
nursing facility.
There is still information
to be gathered. Please send your thoughts
and recommendations to us no later than
October 18, 2001. Thank you for the
information and the suggestions. NN
