The Importance of
Certified Membersby
John Collins, CTRS/ACC
NCCAP Treasurer
As many of you know, it is
very important to get your national
activity certification. However, it is
equally important for you to encourage,
remind and assist other professionals
from your local, state and national
associations to get certified and to
renew their certifications when the time
arrives.
When you look at the number
of certified activity professionals
across the country and compare it to the
number of facilities nationally that
should and could employ a certified
activity professional, there is a vast
difference in the numbers.
The Board of Directors would
like to encourage each certified
professional to recruit at least one new
member. Help show them how they can
become certified. Explain the different
levels of certification (Activity
Assistant, Activity Director and Activity
Consultant) and what requirements must be
met to reach that level of certification.
All levels require three components to be
met Academic Education, Activity
Experience and Continuing Education. It
is not that difficult to get certified,
and Wow! What a sense of
professionalism and accomplishment you
get when you put those certification
initials after your name and realize
youve met nationally-established
standards in your profession. Show your
pride get certified. NN
