A Virtual Trip
through the NCCAP Web siteby
Kathy Hughes, ADC/COTA
NCCAP Vice President
Thanks to our Internet Presence Provider,
Blue Chip Partners, we have made some
changes to our area of the Internet. You are welcome
to use NCCAP.ORG as much as possible. Our site gets
over 61,000 "hits" a month, with activity
professionals from all over the world viewing our information.
We now have certified professionals from Iceland, Japan
and Singapore. Our Canadian NCCAP members are also growing.
The NCCAP web site includes
new items that will allow our members to
get NCCAP information quickly and 24
hours a day, seven days a week. We have
posted all of the NCCAP pre-approved
MEPAP instructors for those looking for a
course. We also included the NCCAP State
Representatives for every state that we
have. These volunteers are equipped with
up-to-date certification information for
our members.
You can now print the entire
NCCAP Standards packet from our web site.
Instructors can print the standards for
their courses, potential NCCAP members
can print the NCCAP application, and
those looking for pre-approval for state
conferences and workshops can easily
print the NCCAP Pre-approval form. Even
at midnight, our information is there
ready and waiting for you to use.
You can also download the NCCAP Standards
packet on your computer for easy access
from our web site.
NCCAP.ORG also has the NCCAP
Bulletin Board, which allows the global
activities community to post upcoming
educational sessions and jobs available,
to share information, and to interact
with other activity professionals. Please
keep in mind that NCCAP does not endorse
the postings on the bulletin board, but
keeps this very public area open for our
members to find educational sessions and
other useful information. We also monitor
the bulletin board at least weekly, and
try to respond to as many inquiries as
possible. While we do not encourage
people to post advertising for items or
materials, we do encourage people to use
the site to post educational
opportunities.
At the NCCAP Membership
meeting in Vermont in April, a member
suggested we consider making our
newsletter available to our members over
the Internet. This was a great
suggestion. We would like to know if you
would prefer getting your "NCCAP
NEWS" via our web site. Members
would then be issued a password and they
could view the current issue of the
newsletter online. This would not only
save the organization money, but also
save a few trees in the process. Please let
us know how you feel about this issue via
e-mail. We currently have
an archive of past newsletters posted on
our site for your reference and for
everyone to see what makes NCCAP a leader
in the activities field.
NCCAP Board members answer
about 25 e-mails a day concerning NCCAP
certification. We try to be as timely as
possible, but there are times when the
answer takes some research. Your e-mail
may be forwarded to one of our experts in
certification, level changes, or
renewals. We send the address changes
directly to our office, and they also
provide expert answers. This process has
proven extremely useful and efficient. We
can answer your questions and concerns in
a timely manner via email. We encourage
all NCCAP members to contact us via
e-mail as sometimes the phone lines are
busy at our office. We are also trying to
make communication with our members as
effortless as possible. Change of address
information is extremely important, and
we make every effort to get that
information into your file as quickly as
we can.
We encourage you to use the
Internet tools we have made available to
you, and to enjoy our
"cyberspace" as often as
possible. The 61,000 "hits" in
June means we are providing a great
service to activity professionals, and we
will continue to use the Internet to its
highest potential. NN
