NAAP Administrator of the Year
by Nancy

Greenville, PA
The
2002 NAAP Conference was held in Kansas City, MO, April
17 - 20, 2002. This was the 4th NAAP Conference I have
attended. Besides attending educational sessions, and
networking with others in my profession, new contacts
were made and old acquaintances were renewed.
This
past year I nominated my Administrator for NAAP Administrator
of the Year. Tammy Lininger, Administrator of St. Paul
Homes, in Greenville, PA, was honored with the prestigious
award. Many peers asked me afterwards, "Why did
you nominate your administrator, and what sets her apart
from the rest?" The answer to these questions is
relatively easy.
Many words or phrases come to mind
compassionate,
dedicated, and a team player. Tammy is a very caring
administrator who has the best interest of the facility
as her top priority. She spends numerous hours with
the residents, families, and staff. Her door is always
open and she takes the time to listen.
Tammy
goes above and beyond what one would think of as an
Administrator. Her accomplishments are numerous, ranging
from Edenizing the facility, to successfully guiding
the facility through to accreditation from the Joint
Commission. A Senior Fitness program was also recently
implemented at the facility as well. Next on her agenda
is building a new nursing facility and utilizing the
existing building for an Assisted Living facility. She
never asks anything of a person that she herself isn't
willing to do.
Her
most unique quality is her support of the Activity Department.
She does not allow complacency and is always challenging
the department to come up with new and innovative ideas
to meet the ever-changing needs of the residents.
As
an activity professional, I am pleased to work with
someone like Tammy who with her personal and professional
guidance respects our knowledge and expertise to allow
us to do our job.
