A new opportunity
for continuing education is now just a mouse click away! Since
March 2003, NCCAP has been providing an opportunity for activity
professionals to earn clock hours through NCCAP chat room. Our
interactive learning experience includes earning one hour at
a time on a variety of topics. As NCCAP continues to be on the
cutting edge of technology, in the activities profession, we
offer members and potential members the ability to maintain
their certification from anywhere in
the world.
The first
step in joining us is to go to the NCCAP web site at www.nccap.org.
You will then be able to scroll down the NCCAP home page to
the Bulletin Board section. There, you will see a posting for
the upcoming NCCAP chats. You are encouraged to sign up for
the evening and topic in which you are interested. This is a
pre-registration for the session, and it lets us know how many
people to expect.
The second
step is to join us in the NCCAP chat room, at the scheduled
time by clicking on the NCCAP Chat Room - Interact with Other
Activity Professionals link from the NCCAP home page. This link
will take you to our introductory page, which is full of helpful
information concerning the chat room. You can then click on
the room in which the chat will be taking place (usually Room
1). Then you must log in using any name you wish, gaining access
to the NCCAP chat room and interacting with the other activity
professionals involved in the educational session.
Educational
opportunities are available for those who participate and stay
in the chat room for the entire session. Those who are 10 minutes
late or leave the chat room and do not return within a few minutes
will not receive educational credit. The moderator and instructor
will keep track of those who participate and provide other information,
including what you must send to NCCAP to receive your credit.
This educational opportunity is available to those who are NCCAP
certified, those wanting to become NCCAP certified, and individuals
who want to learn and share with others.
The
proceeds of this opportunity will be placed in the Beverly Morris
Scholarship Fund, which is available to all NCCAP members who
need financial assistance in obtaining continuing education
hours. Your support of this program will increase our ability
to assist other activity professionals in their continued professional
growth. Your involvement in our NCCAP chats will increase your
learning experience and the experience of others. By sharing
information and being able to provide a cost-effective learning
experience, NCCAP is recognized as an innovative organization
in the activity profession.
