What
Qualifies as Continuing Education for NCCAP

After
reviewing some of the material that is sent in for CEU's,
there appears to be a need for clarification of what
qualifies as continuing education for NCCAP. As you
all know the list of qualifying educational topics found
in the Body of Knowledge is vast. However at times there
appears to be some confusion as some of the submitted
material people submit does not qualify as CEU's for
NCCAP. Always use the guide of "activities work
related" as a qualifier for submitting CEU's for
NCCAP. "Work related" refers only to the field
of Activities when renewing with NCCAP. What would be
accepted as work related for music or art continuing
education may not qualify for Activities. An example
of what does not apply would be someone who has a music
background and certification in that field submitting
practice time for a concert as CEU's for NCCAP. This
is not directly related to the job of Activities Director/worker
and therefore not accepted for NCCAP continuing education.
For people who have more than the NCCAP certification,
being aware of what the differences are for each professional
organization is a must. Remember each professional certification
has its own unique content areas (Body of Knowledge)
that it uses to determine what qualifies for continuing
education. While some topics may be acceptable for both
certifications, some topics only fit in one or the other.
Before filling out the forms for continuing education,
be sure to review each certification's requirements. NN
