State Representatives Update

by LeNora Hughes, ACC
NCCAP Board

Just recently, I mailed a let-ter to our State Representatives, asking for their response on the committee and for input on their interest level in continuing on the committee.

If you did not hear from me, and you are on the committee, please let me know as soon as possible. Below is some information I need from our Committee members:

·Do you still have the notebook that contains all the neces-sary materials on NCCAP certification? If so, please review it and, if you have any changes in address, job, or names PLEASE let me know.

· Do you have access to email? I'd like to have your address. Please email me at studes@home.com so I can put your email address in my files.

Current information will be sent out in late November, including new NCCAP Stand-ards, letterhead, envelopes, and a copy-ready logo for advertising NCCAP in your local chapter and state organization newsletter. In reviewing the current list of State Representatives, I noted NCCAP is not represented in the following states:

· Montana
· North and South Dakota
· Utah

If you know anyone interested in being part of the NCCAP team in those areas let me know, or have them call me. If I am mistaken, and those states do in fact have State Reps, I need to know that too!

The following is current information on the duties of a State Representative, and the qualifications necessary to represent your state.

Duties

· You will provide current NCCAP information to the members of your State and local chapter.

· Maintain a current list of all certified members in your state from the listing sent directly to you yearly by the NCCAP office.

· Notify the NCCAP office of current and changing state regulations, as well as updating legislation pertaining to activity professionals.

· Distribute NCCAP information at your local and state workshops and conferences.

· Maintain a current list of dates for MEPAP training held in your state.

· Work with your state and local activity organizations to provide education opportunities for CEs.

· Provide information to your State newsletter using the copy-ready ads (where able) provided in your capital State Representative notebook.

Qualifications

· State Representatives must be NCCAP certified and a member in good standing.

· Must be current and active in your local and state organizations.

· Must be aware of current NCCAP certification stan-dards, and have the ability to disseminate general information or access to information pertaining to certification.

· Must be knowledgeable of your state and federal regulations and any changes (qualified vs. certified).

Committee Volunteers

NCCAP can always use committee volunteers. If you have interest in volunteering for the Certification Renewals, Standards, or By-Laws areas, contact me via email (studes@home.com) or by phone at (360) 491-5401. NN
