NCCAP
Body of Knowledge Topic Areas for Continuing Education
Hours
The
NCCAP reviewers continue to find individuals not submitting
the required information on their certificates of verification
for example, the speaker's name, speaker's credentials,
etc. Also more frequently than that, the reviewers find
that individuals attempt to utilize items that do NOT
fit under the Body of Knowledge topic areas for continuing
education hours. For example, attending a Bible Study
group one night a week for 2 hours, pet training classes
for your puppy, or working out at a spa 2 hours per
week, does not constitute continuing education hours.
Craft classes would also not meet the NCCAP requirement
unless dictated by the administrator in writing. NCCAP
sends you the renewal standards with your certification
renewal that specifies what does and does not constitute
continuing education hours. Most states have numerous
opportunities for continuing education, as well as independent
study courses through a college or university. Other
opportunities include NCCAP pre-approved home study
courses, 20% or your hours can come from facility in-services
and health related areas such as CPR renewals. NN
