Beverly
Morris Scholarship Fund Receives Donation
The
recent graduates of the Hampton Roads, VA, MEPAP (part
1) class, determined their final project to be a collaborative
effort in presenting to the community a oneday, low-cost
workshop in honor of National Activity Professionals
Week in January. The January 12, 2004, "Knowledge
is Key" workshop, was sponsored in part by Desiree
Mitchell, ADC and Marian Manor, in Virginia Beach, VA.
The workshop offered 7 hours of continuing education
on various NCCAP Body of Knowledge topic areas to include:
music therapy, art therapy, physical therapy, one-to-one
programming and nutritional concepts in healthcare.
The proceeds were divided equally, with half being donated
to NCCAP for the Beverly Morris Scholarship fund and
the other half being donated to the VAAP (Virginia Association
of Activity Professionals) organization. The VAAP organization
utilizes their education fund to assist VAAP members
in receiving courses and other educational credits.
Thanks is given to the following students for their
donation: Melissa Knightes, Tina Guthrie, Kirstie Saunders,
Shirley Hiser, Carolyn Fischer, Ginny Bowman, Ann Margaret
Windsor and Lisa Dugger.
