MEPAP
2nd Edition Nears Completion
It
is with much excitement that the NCCAP Board of Directors
announces the near completion of the MEPAP 2nd edition.
The committee, chaired by one of the original authors
of the Modular Education Program for Activity Professionals
(MEPAP) course(s), Anne D'Antonio-Nocera, has been working
hard to stay on the time outline that was placed into
action nearly 7 years ago. (The certified members were
updated on the progress of the committee work at the
2003 NCCAP Annual meeting in Gatlinburg, TN). Beginning
in the summer of 2004, the revision will be introduced
in two-day trainings. The NCCAP Teacher Training Academy
will offer NCCAP 101 - Essentials for Teaching Adults,
the first day, and NCCAP 102 - Orientation to MEPAP
2nd Edition the second day, in various locations according
to geographical need, until which time all pre-approved
instructors have received both components.
*All
pre-approved instructors that took their training with
the new format 2001-2002, will only be required to attend
the orientation to the MEPAP 2nd Edition, all other
pre-approved instructors will be required to attend
both days. This will ensure that all instructors are
on the same page, teaching the same materials, in the
same format, with the required teacher and student text.
The
cost of offering the training in diverse locations across
the country can be greatly minimized, if you are aware
of a location that may be willing to host the training.
Please send an e-mail directly to Cindy Bradshaw, NCCAP
Executive Director, at cbacc111@aol.com with details.
The re-engineering committee will also be looking for
interested, qualified individuals (both NAAP and NCCAP
members) who would be willing to assist with future
training in the various locations. If you are a NAAP
member, and you are ACC certified, plus you have taken
the 90 hour MEPAP part 1 and the 90 hour MEPAP part
2, and you have experience teaching adults and a willingness
to assist the committee in this manner, send your written
aspirations and documented verification for consideration
to the NCCAP office to Cindy Bradshaw's attention.
In
summary, NAAP members and NCCAP certified members jointly
established the foundation for MEPAP. Evolution of the
profession in the healthcare industry has made it necessary
to revise the MEPAP to ensure it continues to be the
viable teaching tool it was intended to be.
Be
looking for more detailed information to come via mail
when the training will be in your area. You can also

instructor or preapproval needs.
