Are
You Recruiting New Certified Professionals?
By
John Collins, CTRS, ACC; NCCAP Treasurer
The
National Certification Council for Activity Professionals
(NCCAP) is your certifying body. Are you assisting in
recruiting new certified individuals?
Remember that numbers talk - each time NCCAP goes to
a legislative body they want to know how many certified
professionals there are. If each certified professional
would recruit one new certified professional the numbers
would double. Have you assisted a professional who is
not certified in the steps to take to get certified?
Have you shared certification information at your local
and state meetings/conferences? Are continuing education
opportunities available in your area and have you shared
how an individual could use those hours to assist in
getting certified?
The new ADC Track 5 might assist some professionals
in getting certified (read article about ADC Track 5).
As the treasurer of NCCAP, I can tell you that any revenue
generated by individuals applying for certification
goes to offset the tremendous costs of running the organization.
Postage, telephone, printing, office space, utilities,
equipment, newsletters, salaries, staff/volunteer recognition,
board meetings - the list of expenditures is very lengthy.
NCCAP needs everyone to assist in bringing in the needed
revenues to keep the organization operating in a positive
financial arena. Talk up certification and encourage
and assist someone in getting certified. NN
