Can I save extra
continuing education credit for my next renewal?
No. Continuing education credits must be attended within
the two (2) years following renewal.
If
the certificate of attendance is incomplete,
where do I get the information needed?
Sponsors of workshops should keep this
information on file in case there are any
questions from persons attending. This
information is generally found in publicity tools
or handouts. Make a practice of studying the
certificate and attaching to it any additional
information needed at the time of the workshop.
I
am not currently employed in activities. Can I
renew?
Yes. You are only required to have the
continuing education to renew.
May I use
certificates of attendance to renew that do not have pre-approval
numbers?
Yes, pre-approval is not mandatory, except for the
MEPAP courses, but only safeguards that the submitted hours
will be accepted by NCCAP. Please be aware that other licensure
and certifying bodies may have different criteria (i.e. nursing,
administrators, social work, etc.).
How do I
determine the amount of hours I have for certification?
NCCAP accepts clock hours for continuing education.
A clock hour is very simply defined as the amount of actual
instruction time. If CEU's or college credits are awarded, the
conversion to clock hours is defined under continuing education
standards. Please note that many continuing education providers
use terms like: clock hours, CEU's, contact hours, and credit
interchangeably when the terms are really different in meaning.
If you have a difficult time determining how many hours of continuing
education you will be granted, refer to the agenda of instruction
and count the number of clock hours minus lunch, breaks, and
registration. This will give the correct amount.
May I use
a Basic Education Course or Advanced Management Course for continuing
education?
The Modular Education Program for Activity Professionals
90-Hour Basic Education and/or Advanced Management Course may
be used for academic college credit (if actual college credits
were earned) or continuing education during the initial certification
period. Courses used for academic credit may not be used to
meet continuing education standards too. Courses completed after
initial certification during the two-year renewal period may
also be used for continuing education. Other Activity courses
that are less than 90 hours may only be used for continuing
education.
