Michele is currently the Community Liaison and Education Director for A Gentle Touch Senior Care. She also works as a consultant for the Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center where she previously worked full-time as the Director of Programs from November 2014 through June 2021.
Michele graduated from Dowling College with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. Her dream was to be a teacher, so she returned to Dowling and earned her Master’s degree in Elementary Education.
Becoming the primary caregiver for her mom, who had Alzheimer’s disease, was life-altering. Michele’s goal is to use her educational expertise and experiences to help caregivers and those coping with a dementia diagnosis. She runs a support group and a memory cafe in addition to coordinating community presentations. She is also the creator and presenter of an activities series for dementia and cognitively impaired adults
As a Licensed Instructor, I am qualified to deliver the standardized curriculum the Activity Professional Certification (APC) and Activity Director Certification (ADC.)
For over 30 years, NCCAP certification has been accepted for meeting the highest standard of CMS F680 and is the only certification accepted by NAAP for meeting the Professional Standards of Practice to be an Activity Professional.
The standardized curriculum is infused with the person-centered principles of the Pioneer Network as well as the Alzheimer’s Association Dementia Care Practice Recommendations. It is reviewed and updated regularly by an independent Clinical and Curriculum Advisory Board of geriatric experts and long-term care practitioners.
Like all Allied Healthcare credentials, NCCAP certification is based on a formal course of study, the standardized curriculum, and an independent final exam. NCCAP certification ensures you are competent to deliver person-centered care and life-enriching activity programs to enhance physical, cognitive and psychosocial well-being.
